Toy Dog Breeds

Life seems to come at us with its own plans on a consistent basis. Every time I think that I have everything planned out for my life, something happens that calls or adjustments. Having things unpredictable adds some of the spice to life, but it also adds stress. I have tried to teach myself to go with the flow, by this has never been very easy for me. I guess in a way I am a control freak, however I am learning that the more I try to control situations the more stress I am under. I need to remind myself consistently that just because I want something to go a certain way, doesn't mean that everyone else does. My likes and dislikes may be different than other people but that is alright.

My mother moved to an apartment several years ago. She could no longer take care of the large family home that we grew up in. The apartment building where mom is allows small pets. I am a cat lover so I thought mom should have a cat. Before I could get her one my oldest sister talked to mom about getting a dog from one of the toy dog breeds. My sister's reasoning is that this would get mom out walking more to exercise the dog.

The toy dog breeds had never been one of my favorite animals. My experience with dogs from the toy dog breeds is that they jump and bark a great deal and they tend to need a lot of medical care. I said this to my sister and she told me that I was miss-informed. She said the toy dog breeds are healthy and life long lives. There are also several of the breeds that make good companions for people with allergies. She thought that the small dog would be a happy healthy thing for mom.

My mother said that she had never been around small dogs and did not know if she would like having one or not. My sister knew a man that raised toy poodles. His female had given birth to four puppies. They had all been spoken for, but then one person had to back out. He said that it is not difficult to sell the toy dog breeds because they are in high demand. He said that mom could have the puppy for a week and if she did not want it he would take it back. The small puppy was buff colored and fit in the palm of mom's hand. I could see by the way she looked at it that it would not be leaving at the end of the week. I had to admit he was cute and as time has passed I have come to like the little guy. Once again I tried to control a situation and have my way by giving mom a cat, but I see know that the toy poodle was a better choice.
