Dial Up Internet

I have a very fast Internet connection, and I often forget that some of my friends are still using dial up internet for a variety of different reasons. I honestly didn't mind it when I had it, though there were a few drawbacks. If you do not have a lot of money, but it is still important that you have access to the Internet, getting dial up might be just what you need. When it comes to scaling back expenses, this is yet another way to do so.

The dial up Internet that I had was rather fast for that type of service, and I never really had any complaints. I could load video, but it was often something I had to wait a while for. Videos were not that popular online then, so it was rare that I wanted to do such a thing anyway. Perhaps my biggest complain with my dial up Internet was that a phone call would knock me offline, but today that is not a huge problem. There are settings to stop that from happening, and you can also get a very inexpensive extra phone line to carry just your dial up Internet and that won't be a problem.

Some areas still only have dial up Internet service. There are places where cable does not reach, and those phone companies do not have the DSL service. Until the time comes when they can get high speed, they have to have dial up Internet if they want to be online at home. I have a friend in this situation, but she tells me that she is rather comfy with the service she has, and she is not sure she would leave dial up if she were given other options.

When you want to find great priced dial up Internet service, you only have to go as far as your local phone company. However, there are others that might have it cheaper, and you can always go with them. Even better, you can tell your phone company that you have found cheaper dial up Internet, and that you are going to go with someone else. They may match what the other company is offering to you just to keep you on as a customer. Today, with so many switching to digital phone and Internet, you can see if they will cut you a deal to keep you on. They might not do it, but it never hurts to ask.
