Lists Of Universities

Students who are in their senior year in high school are really entering an exiting period of their lives. One of the biggest decisions students can make is which college to attend after they have graduated from high school. In order to make this decision a little easier many students look to a list of universities that interest them.

You can find different ways to develop your own list of universities that you want to consider for your college education. Following are some ideas on how to narrow down your search. Once you have your list of universities and colleges in order you will find that making a decision is much easier.

The first thing you want to consider is your budget. This might seem a little disappointing but if you are struggling to pay tuition you will probably have a more difficult time enjoying your college career. Include schools that offer grants, loans and scholarships when making your list of universities.

You also want to consider location. This is especially important if your budget is on your mind. While you may have a list of universities that are in different states then you might find that you will have a difficult time getting the necessary funding. Many state grants and scholarships are only applicable to one state.

However, you might be able to still get some of this funding if you make a list of universities that are in states that border your home state. For example, many students who get funding from Pennsylvania go to schools in Ohio. In my personal opinion, I think that it is easier to stay in your own state if you are receiving special grants and loans.

Your list of universities should also consider your prospective major. You may find that not all schools are ideal for certain professions. I discovered this the hard way when I attended a college that required five years of schooling for a teaching degree. I should have focused on making a list of universities that were notable "teaching schools" rather than a school that was junior Ivy League.

Another change that I would make on my own list of universities would be to consider community colleges. Many of these inexpensive schools have excellent programs and you can find another list of universities that accept credits from the community colleges. You can complete the first two years at the inexpensive institution and finish off the final two years at another school.
