Buy A Business

For many people, owning a business is just a dream, but it does not have to be that way. There are lots of different types of businesses and franchises for sale in the United States, United Kingdom, and in many countries around the world. Do you have a specific interest or unique skill that could be profitable, or are you pondering over something new that you would like to try? How much capital will you need and will you have to borrow funds from a lender? These questions are just a sampling of course, to demonstrate some of what you will need to consider in order to buy a business. Once you have made the decision to start a business, next you need to choose between buying an existing business and starting a new venture from scratch. There are advantages and disadvantages to both options, which is why it is so important to do your homework ahead of time.

There are many online resources for people who want to buy a business. For example, www.bizbuysell.com, the internet is the largest business for sale marketplace, features over 43,000 businesses for sale, which are listed by various categories, such as restaurants, beauty salons, liquor stores, service stations, and other types of businesses.

If you want to buy a business in a certain city or state, just do a simple search to see what is available in your area of interest. Other websites like www.businessesforsale.com and www.bizquest.com also feature directories of businesses for sale in the United States and abroad. With all these online resources, you are sure to find the business that is just right for you.

The Small Business Administration or SBA, can be located online at www.sba.gov, and it offers programs and services to help you buy a business, make it grow, and be successful. The SBA offers training classes for new entrepreneurs-to-be and lots of tips, including the pros and cons of buying an existing business versus starting fresh, how to find a profitable business to buy, and why the use of a qualified attorney is important. Prospective business owners need to be aware of all the legal aspects of owning a specific business, including but not limited to required permits and licenses. Before you buy a business, you will want to examine every aspect, including how to calculate the value of the business, essential elements to be in the final sales agreement, and a closing checklist listing the final points of the sale to be reviewed by you and your lawyer. After all this, you will wonder why you did not do it sooner!
