Selling A Car Have you ever been accused of being opinionated? We all have our own opinions on things. I have not felt that I am any more opinionated than anyone else, however many of my friends have told me that I am. I guess I am more willing to express my opinions more that the average person. My friends and relatives have told me that this is the reason that I have remained single. They also tell me I am too picky. This may be true; however I enjoy my single life. It would be great to have a partner to grow old with; however I am not going to settle for just anyone. One of the opinions that I have expressed through the years is that I think used car dealers are less than honest. People that know me know that I hate dealing with car salesmen. I was forced to do just this a few months ago. I was interested in selling a car that was left to me by an aunt. I was a nice vehicle, but it was older than the one I drive and it had more miles on it. I did not want to deal with the hassle of selling a car from my home so I went to a used car dealer that was suggested to me by a friend. I drove my auntís car to the used car lot so they would have a chance to price it for me. I had looked up the blue book value of the vehicle so I knew what a fair offer would be. When I got out of the car I was immediately approached by a salesman. I explained that I was interested in selling a car not purchasing one. He inquired about the car and then began looking it over. He asked me to come into his office in the dealership. In his office I noticed that he had several prints of various gold courses. Golfing is a passion of mine so I recognized several of the courses. He explained that he loved to golf and that he went to as many different courses as possible. We talked about our golf games for several minutes. Before I knew it the dealership was closing and we had not even discussed a price to place on the car. He was very honest in telling me that you can get more for selling a car if you do it on your own rather than going through a dealership. I explained that I lived alone and did not want to publish my phone number in an advertisement. He offered to advertise and sell the car from his home. It turned out that we did not live very far apart. He gave me his addresses and told me that if I wanted to drop the car there after I placed the ad I could. As we talked he mentioned that he was also single. He invited me to golf with him the next afternoon. I agreed to meet him at the course. That was several months ago. Since that time we have seen each other almost daily. He is finishing his degree and is working as a car salesman to pay for his education. We have decided to get married. I never would have thought that selling a car would lead to finding my soul mate. My friends tease me that I certainly have changed my opinion of car dealers. |
