Mardi Gras Masks Each year people talk of a celebration down in New Orleans. It's probably the single most popular gathering in the United States. It's none other than Mardi Gras, and it typically takes place in February. Although I still haven't been, I have far too many buddies telling me it's the greatest bash they've ever witnessed. But, if you're planning that trip down to Louisiana, you'd better go prepared with all the necessary supplies. Think loads of beads and unique Mardi Gras masks. After all, you want some kind of guise to hide your true appearance for when they catch you on the news camera. There are a few things to keep in mind when tackling the grand Mardi Gras celebration. It's not just about girls going wild in Mardi Gras masks while begging for beads. Safety is a primary concern. Did you know that the streets of New Orleans are literally jam-packed with crazy individuals during this celebration? We're talking complete and utter chaos. It's probably not a great idea to bring your small child to such an event. I say this just because it may be difficult to keep track of them in the madness. Second of all, you might want to consider booking a room and viewing the party from up above. Go ahead and acquire a hotel room and watch the celebration on a balcony. This is a safer route, but you're still able to see what's going on. And finally there's the theft issue I've heard so much about. Two of my buddies lost their wallets while down in the muck of Mardi Gras, frolicking in their crazy Mardi Gras masks. They're not sure if the billfolds fell out or they were pick-pocketed. DUH! Get a clue guys. How often does your wallet fall out of your back pocket? I'm 31, and it's never happened to me. Being stuck in a crowd of people makes it hard to pay attention to what's going on at all times. Things can get confusing. This is why it's imperative to stay alert and not let your guard down. Remember, most of these people are hidden beneath Mardi Gras masks. It's not like you're going to see their faces directly. Okay, now that I've got you on edge about venturing down to Mardi Gras, let me remind you that folks horde to this celebration every year for a good reason. It's freaking fun! So get out your Mardi Gras masks and have a blast! |
